Consignor Spotlight: Bobbie Rose
by Josie McCoy
At Briggs Auction we have the privilege of encountering many types of consignors inspiring collectors, bright personalities, and remarkably creative people. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Bobbie Rose in person, but her exuberant creativity and personality lives on through her carefully curated collection of items.
Bobbie Rose was not only a champion golfer, but she was also a creative artist constantly on the search for new inspiration. She continued to golf and create art simultaneously until she was 104 years old. Her surrealist abstract acrylic paintings are present in our September Fine Estates Collection, as well as her excellent taste in silver jewelry and accessories, as cataloged in Lots 1-9 and Lot 14.
Bobbie lived her life with curiosity and adventure. She taught Physical Education at Cheltenham School while pursuing her passion in the arts in her spare time. She was an avid believer in continuous education and taught herself how to weld in her 90s. At the age of 104, she even modeled for the world-renowned makeup artist Bobbie Brown! Consignors like Bobbie are a constant source of inspiration for me, and it is truly a pleasure to be invited to witness a person’s lifelong passion and curated collection. We invite you to explore the Fine Estates Auction through the lens of curiosity and wonder that Bobbie Rose maintained throughout her entire life.
