Friday evenings, we sell the finest quality merchandise at absolute auction without minimums or reserves, in order to ensure that you have the best auction experience.

Bi-Weekly Estate Variety (General Merchandise) Auctions feature a wide array of items, from antiques to high-end designer furniture to more every-day furnishings, decoratives, primitives, fine art, clocks, carpets, china and porcelains, glassware, collectibles, silver; fine and costume jewelry, coins, books, toys and games, electronics, appliances, tools, automobiles, and much more. Basically: anything you’d find in any home is possible each auction.

Periodic Special Collections showcase significant groupings of items from one (or more) estates or private collections.

Monthly Fine Estate Catalog Auctions feature the finest antique and period furniture, decorative and fine art, sterling and silver, estate fine jewelry and Oriental carpets, and more from local estates and collections.

For first-time bidders we’ll need to see your driver’s license and we’ll take your phone number and email address. If you’re buying for resale purposes, bring your state sales tax exemption number. Your information is kept completely confidential and will never be given, shared, or sold to anyone. Read our Privacy Policy for more details.

Everything at each auction will be sold that day, to the highest bidder for each lot. Nothing can be purchased outright either before or after the auction. You should examine any item you’re interested in bidding on, because everything is sold AS IS, with no guarantees.

To bid, simply hold up your bidder card. If the price goes beyond what you want to pay, put your card down. It’s that simple. And yes, all our auctioneers know the difference between a twitch, scratch, and an actual bid!

If you can’t attend the auction, but would like to bid, you can submit an Absentee bid or a Telephone bid. For an absentee bid you give us your maximum price and a staff member will bid for you up to that amount but not over it. You must bid a minimum of $20 ($50 for special auctions). A telephone bid allows you to bid live on the phone during the auction. You must bid a minimum of $100 for a telephone bid ($300 for special auctions).

Like most auction houses, we do charge a Buyer’s Premium. This is a small percentage of the selling prices that is added to the purchase price of each item. The buyer’s premium for our weekly estate general merchandise auctions is 18%, discounted to 15% for payment by Cash or Check. For special collections and special antique/decorative arts auctions it will be higher, and will be posted on that auction’s web page. The 6% PA state sales tax is added to the purchase price including the buyer’s premium unless you have a valid tax exemption number.

Payment in full is required the day of the auction if you attend the auction. We accept cash, personal check, VISA, MasterCard, and Debit. Payment in full includes the buyer’s premium and applicable sales tax. For absentee/telephone bidders, payment is required within one week of the auction, and all merchandise must be removed within one week.

No item may be removed from the auction until full payment has been made. All items must be removed the day of the auction if you attend the auction. You should plan to bring your own boxes, bags, and packing materials for packing. If you can’t take an item(s) with you the day of the auction, we are open on Saturdays from 9am-2:30pm for pickup. During the week, we are open Monday-Wednesday, 8am-5pm; Thursdays, 8am-7pm, and all-day Fridays. During the week, please call ahead to be sure we have staff available if you require assistance loading. If you plan to leave an item for later pickup, please inform a Briggs Auction, Inc. staff member. We request that all larger items be removed by Wednesday following the auction.
