BUYING AT AUCTION
The Auction is a great place to find items fresh to the marketplace straight from local estates, homes, and collections. Here you’ll find high-quality, well-made, unique pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. And because you– the bidder–determine the selling price, you can’t beat the bargains. We sell the finest quality merchandise at absolute auction without minimums or reserves, in order to ensure that you have the best auction experience.
Online Bidding: As of January 2020, we transitioned to an online-only bidding format that has allowed us to reach an even wider audience, and we are pleased and proud that we continue to introduce new bidders to “the auction experience”! Are you new to online bidding? Check out our Bid At Briggs bidding platform for all the details and how-tos.

BIDDING AT AUCTION
Everything at each auction will be sold to the highest bidder for each lot. Nothing can be purchased outright either before or after the auction. Every item in the auction comes from a local home or Estate, and is sold AS IS, with no guarantees, so please ask us for any additional information you need to help you make bidding decisions.
BUYER’S PREMIUM AND SALES TAX
Like most auction houses, we do charge a Buyer’s Premium. This is a small percentage of the selling price that is added to the purchase price of each item. The buyer’s premium for each auction is stated on that auction page on our website and in the online details for each auction.
The 6% PA state sales tax is added to the purchase price including the buyer’s premium unless you have a valid tax exemption number. If you do have a tax exemption number, please make sure we have it before the end of the auction in which you are bidding so that we can make sure the tax is not charged to your credit card.
Briggs Auction will charge the credit card on file in your online bidding account at the end of each auction for your successful bids + the applicable buyer’s premium and the PA sales tax.
REMOVING / PICK UP OF MERCHANDISE
No item may be removed from the auction until full payment has been made. Merchandise pick up is by appointment only Mondays – Fridays, or Saturdays from 9AM – 3PM with no appointment needed. Items from any previous auction can be picked up at any pickup.
At this time, all pickups are contactless. Bidders are responsible for bringing their own packing materials and labor needed to remove their items. Please read or Merchandise Pickup procedures for more details.
